A 39-year-old man is in police custody following a fatal accident along Bau Road in Nausori this morning.

Police say a 62-year-old man died as a result of the alleged accident.

It is alleged that the suspect ran over the victim who was lying on the road, heavily intoxicated.

The road death toll currently stands at 14 compared to three for the same period last year.
