80 member delegation to represent Fiji at MACFEST festival

An eighty member delegation from various art forms will be representing Fiji to the 6th Melanesian Arts Festival in the Solomon Islands next month.

During the launch of the Publication “Katonimana” at the Fiji Museum this afternoon, iTaukei Affairs Permanent Secretary, Naipote Katonitabua says it’s important to strengthen our cultural institutions.

“Our culture, traditions, customs and values have proven to build respected values in our people passed down by our ancestors over a hundred years. We must pause for a moment to access where we come form, where we are now as we face the era rapid change, globalization and build-up of technology.”

Funding for the delegation has been provided by the government through the Education Ministry.

The MACFEST festival will be held from the 1st to the 10th of July.
