A 72-year-old doctor was found dead in his surgery in Nasivi Street in Tavua last night.

Police Spokesperson, Ana Naisoro says the doctor’s wife reported the matter after making the discovery.

Naisoro says the couple had separated and over the last few weeks she had made several attempts to contact the deceased.

She says last night the surgery had to be forcefully opened by police in order to gain access to the premises.

A partly decomposed body was found inside.

A post mortem will be conducted to ascertain the cause of death as the investigation continues.
