21 aircraft were on lockdown during TC Keni

A total of twenty-one aircraft were on lockdown in the Fiji Airways hanger during TC Keni.

Minister for Aviation, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum said in parliament that Fiji Airways has cooperate emergency response plan which covers both the Fiji Link and Fiji Airways during natural disasters.

“Nine Jet aircraft that Fiji Airways had were flown out with passengers during the actual crisis. All eight turbo pro Fiji Link domestic aircraft were in the hanger, locked down. We also parked 13 other local operator aircraft inside the Fiji Airways hanger including some of the helicopters.”

Sayed-Khaiyum says these were some of the precautionary measures that were taken during TC Keni.

He was responding to a question raised by Government MP Howard Politini on how safe and secure the Fiji Airways fleet is after TC Keni, as it is the catalyst for economic development of the country.
