Issues regarding the Help for Homes Initiative in 2016 were raised by people living in Ra during a talanoa session with the Acting Prime Minister Aiyaz Sayed Khaiyum.

The issue was raised that it has been two years after TC Winston caused devastation and families living in Bureiwai Village are still waiting for their items from hardware companies.

The villagers told Sayed Khaiyum yesterday that they have been going to the hardware company to enquire about the items, however the reply from the company was that when their trucks make a trip to the Western Division, their items will brought to them.

The Acting Prime Minister told those in concern that they will look into the matter right away.

“The question was asked about the cards given under the help for homes initiative for Winston and how they have not received all the goods through the cards so what we will do is get all their details and card numbers and we can follow up with the hardware company.”

Meanwhile other issues raised were on rural electrification and land.
