99, 528 tons of sugar produced from June to September

99, 528 tons of sugar were collectively produced by the Rarawai,  Labasa and Lautoka mills over the past 15 weeks.

Fiji Sugar Corporation Senior Admin Officer Timoci Sila says the sugar production continues to increase in the last few months.

The FSC is optimistic that the tons of sugar will increase before the crushing season comes to an end in December.

“The achievement so far as soon as we started crush in June till yesterday we have seen a steady output in our mills performance. And we have so far crushed 1.020 million tons of sugarcane producing 99, 528 tons of sugar”.

Sila adds the Lautoka mill has crushed 54 percent of sugarcane, followed by Rarawai mill at 51 percent and the Labasa mill has so far crushed 62 percent.

The FSC plans to increase its labour mobility to fasten the harvesting work before the end of this year.
