The Suva High Court will sum up the case of a former headteacher charged with rape.

The case was called before Judge Justice Riyaz Hamza today.

The court heard that the 43-year-old was a head teacher at a school in Naitasiri in 2017 when the alleged incident happened.

He is charged with one count of rape, one count of sexual assault, three counts of indecent assault and 2 counts of indecently annoying someone.

There are six victims who gave evidence during the trial.

In their closing submission, the prosecution submitted that instead of being responsible and being a role model to students, the accused took advantage of them.

Defence in their submission stated that the students wanted to implicate the charges on the head teacher.
