Several prominent rugby clubs are expected to field a team in the Fiji Men’s and Mixed Netball Championships in Nadi next weekend.

Tournament organizer Joe Gray says they have extended an invitation to teams such as Navy, Wardens, Sabeto Roosters rugby league side, Nadi International Airport, Western Marine and the University of the South Pacific.

Gray says all these teams have confirmed their participation and their involvement will help boost the tournament’s campaign in tackling homophobia in the sports arena.

“So in line with a campaign and advocating sports homophobia and Fiji Mens and Mixed Netball wishes to be the only sport that promotes gender equality and also involves not only business houses but spreads and preaches the word of sport that it’s not gender biased but can be enjoyed by all sexes and races.”

Meanwhile, the Fiji Sports Commission donated $5000 to the organizers to help fund the Fiji Men’s and Mixed Netball Championship.

The tournament will be held next Saturday at Koroivolu Park in Nadi.
