McKee speaks highly of half-backs

July 3, 2017 12:33 am

Vodafone Flying Fijians John McKee is counting on Serupepeli Vularika and Henry Seniloli to deliver well in their match against Tonga in the Pacific Nations Cup on Saturday.

The match is also doubling up as the Oceania World Cup qualifier.

Following the exclusion of Nikola Matawalu in the squad, McKee says they opted to take two halfbacks Vularika and Seniloli who both played well in the 27-22 win over Scotland at the ANZ Stadium last month.

“We really looked specifically at the type of game that we need to play and for experience as well. We have three good halfbacks and for a 28-member squad, the choice was to take an extra outside back or an extra halfback.”

McKee adds Serupepeli and Henry made good deliveries which suited their style of play better.

The team will depart our shores tomorrow to play Tonga on Saturday in Nukualofa and faces Samoa the following week in Apia.
