$500 levy for Team Fiji to CWG 2014

Team Fiji athletes and officials preparing for next month’s Commonwealth Games in Scotland are expected to each pay a $500 levy.

Following Friday’s meeting in Suva with Section Managers, Team Fiji Chef de Mission Lyndall Fisher says they have to plan outside of the US $100,00 grant expected this week from the Games Committee.

“I think some of the sports were taken aback of this levy because this was our first meeting and we’d just been going through our budgets. Without any Government funding, it’s stretching our capacity a bit so if anyone wants to come and help, we’d be more than delighted. They can work with the individual sports if they have a preference to help them.”
