Over 200 villagers of Wainibuku Top Settlement in Nasinu will soon have access to piped water after the completion of main water extension works by the Water Authority.
Settlement resident, Ajit Singh says they’ve been facing water problems for many years.
Another resident, Seremaia Bati says they use to walk long distances to fetch water from a well and whoever fetched water first usually got the fresh clean share of water.
Bati adds that the project comes as a relief as it will make life easier especially for school children.
The $632,750.00 project includes the extension of water pipes to the settlement with the installation of PVC pipes, a booster pump and an elevated tank structure.
WAF Chief Operating Officer, Samanmal Ekanayake, says the settlement will soon enjoy a consistent supply of water that should withstand dry seasons and an improved water system performance.
