The Tourism marketing grant has been increased from $23.5million to $30million. This was announced this morning in Parliament at the 2016 National Government by Finance Minister Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum.
Sayed-Khaiyum said the industry has increased Fiji’s prestige in the world and encouraged development and raised living standards.
He adds that every dollar spent to attract visitors is repaid many times over.
“Tourism continues to go as the word spreads that Fiji is a vacation destination that stacks up to any in the world. This is a result of hard work by the Fijian people and sound government policies and plans that are executed in a large part by the Ministry.”
Tourism Minister, Faiyaz Koya, says he was very pleased with the increase adding that a lot of work needs to be done to better market Fiji.
The increased allocation will support the development and promotion of new markets.
