Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama will be visiting India later this month to take part in the 2nd meeting involving Prime Ministers of Pacific Island nations.

This is a follow-up meeting that will be hosted by India as the first one was held in Fiji during the visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in November last year.

Fiji’s High Commissioner to India Yogesh Karan says they have invited all stakeholders to give their submissions on key areas they want to be discussed in the meeting which will be shortlisted and submitted to the Prime Minister for discussions.

Karan says one key focus area will be climate change.

“But in general I think the discussion could be on medical, agriculture, renewable energy, climate change, low cost housing – India is very good in low cost housing and the program also includes private sector involvement and there will be Business to Government and Government to Business meetings.”

The meeting will be held in New Delhi from the 18th to the 22nd of this month.
