April 10, 2015 1:12 am

A new fire station will soon be constructed at Korolevu, Sigatoka with the aim of helping prevent devastating loss of life and property along the coral coast.

At the ground breaking ceremony this morning, Local Government Minister Praveen Bala says the region has witnessed and experienced some huge fires like the one at Korolevu Hotel, Naviti Resort, Natavora and at the Warwick Resort.

He says the hotels suffered major damage since there was no fire station within the vicinity of the hotels and by the time fire teams from Sigatoka reach the scene, there has already some damage done to the property.
