Several law firms and its lawyers are under the spotlight for selling properties.
This comes as the Real Estate Licensing Board received several reports from the Northern division that lawyers are selling properties without a license.
Compliance and Monitoring Officer, Vinal Singh says that under the REALB Act – a person practicing law cannot obtain a license to sell properties.
“We have information regarding certain people and we receive certain referrals as well from people outside the REALB sector so we gather information and give it to police.”
Singh says more Fijians are coming forward to lodge complaints regarding such matters.
Meanwhile, Board Chair Dr Abdul Hassan says some real estate agents are operating with an expired license as well.
The REALB will be conducting its road show in Lautoka on Wednesday following a successful one in the Northern division
