Health officials to visit maritime areas

May 8, 2018 5:30 pm

Fijians in maritime islands will have the opportunity to take advantage of the free health screenings, dental extractions and medical advice this week.

This follows a visit by a delegation from the Health Ministry to communities in Yadua, Kioa, Cikobia, Udu, Rabi, Qamea and Savusavu.

Led by the Assistant Minister Alexander O’Connor, the team of medical staff will inspect the health centres and nursing stations in these maritime islands and look at areas of improvement in relation to resource development.

There will also be an inspection of medicines by the Fiji Pharmaceutical and Biomedical Services (FPBS) team.

The team left for Yadua on Monday this week, after completing a week-long tour of the health facilities in the Northern Division last week.

They are expected to return to Suva on Friday.
