Fiji could possibly begin exporting beef to Malaysia as the local meat industry continued to grow.

This was part of a discussion between Agriculture Minister, Dr. Mahendra Reddy and High Commissioner of Malaysia to Fiji, Ilham Tuah Illias.

The two also discussed opportunities and mutual areas of cooperation on agriculture and rural development.

Discussions focused on possible areas to further cooperation between the two countries and to work more closely to develop the agriculture sector holistically through training programs offered by the Malaysian Government as well as working in collaboration on farm mechanization.

A trade mission from Malaysia will visit Fiji soon, with an invitation also extended for a delegation from Fiji to visit Malaysia to strengthen ties for enhanced mutual agricultural support.
