EU donates cash for flood victims

The European Union has donated $500,000 to assist the flood and landslide victims of the recent floods.

The assistance will be implemented by the Adventist Development and Relief Agency which had been in operation in Fiji since 2004.

The agency also participated with the first phase of the emergency response.

Two experts from the European Commission’s Humanitarian aid and Civil Protection department have visited the affected areas recently.

The expects met with local communities, Non-government organisations, UN and other donor organisations to assess the situation.

Meanwhile the Adventist Development and Relief Agency will be liaising with the Western Divisional office in Navua, Ba, Tavua and Ra on the supplementary food pack distributions.
