Diwali has a lot of positive meanings

November 13, 2012 4:08 am

Diwali has a lot of positive meaning not just to Hindus but to everyone says Nemani Bainivalu, an i-Taukei , who is an expert in Hindi Language and Culture.

Bainivalu says although Diwali is a religious Hindu festival, it has a broad meaning which extends to all other ethnic groups and religions.

He says the festival has a big message about people being the light of the world with what good deeds they do.

That light should be the light of love, the light of forgiveness the light or caring and sharing, that’s why they would invite you to come.

Bainivalu also says having sweets signifies reconciliation and trying to rebuild good relationship with your neighbours.

He would invite you to come and have sweets with him, so your relationship can be sweetened, relationships can iron out differences so you can live in peace and harmony.

Bainivalu adds Diwali is a time of triumph of good over evil, light over darkness and all positive things over the negatives.
