The Commerce Commission is closely monitoring the spare parts industry following numerous complaints on the vast difference in prices between different suppliers.
The Commission Chair Dr Mahendra Reddy says they stepped in to ensure customers are not ripped off.
He says Fiji has a large market for spare parts as we mostly import aging second hand vehicles.
But with the demand for spare parts, disparity is also suspected when it comes to charging consumers.
The Commerce Commission has therefore decided to investigate the sector after they received numerous complaints that there is vast difference in prices for spare parts between different suppliers.
The study is expected to be complete in the 3rd quarter of the year.
