A twenty six (26) year old man from Savusavu will spend 9 years behind bars for unlawfully cultivating Cannabis Sativa or Marijuana.
On 21st March a team of Police officers raided the house of Tomasi Rabuka and he voluntarily led them to his farm where he and another person were cultivating Marijuana.
Rabuka’s farm was 5 kilometres from Viana Village in Savusavu, where Police uprooted 147 plants of the illicit drug.
The farmer had cultivated 10.9 Kilo grams from January to March 21st of this year.
Judge Justice Salesi Temo deducted 5 years from his initial 14 years sentence for an early guilty plea.
However the Judge did say the sentence must remind the youth of Fiji not to cultivate illicit drugs.
Rabuka isn’t eligible for parole for 6 years.
