48 police officers charged with serious crime last year

Forty-eight police officers were charged with serious crimes or non-sexual violence offences last year.

The officers charged made up the total 572 people charged with 493 separate counts of serious crime offences.

29 people who were charged were under eighteen years of age.

The highest number of offences were recorded in May with 88 serious crimes.
Aggravated robbery topped the list with 116 cases reported.

There were 350 victims of the 493 separate serious offences.

Of the 350, there were 26 offences where the accused and victim were related to each another.
