TVET teachers receive highest level of accreditation

Around fifty teachers from various TVET institutions have undergone training to pursue a Level four Certificate in teaching to qualify them to support their practice.

This is the first to be developed by the Fiji Higher Education Commission in an effort to prepare teachers design and use teaching tools sensitive to the socio –cultural background developed for learners.

FHEC Director Lynda Aumua says the programme is to improve the quality standard of training in the sector.

“We’ve had many issues around the delivery and the skills the students were actually attaining when they go out in the industry and we know that teachers need TVET qualification so that they learned to attach the students the skills and knowledge that they actually already have with the industry so this is the vital part of bringing up the quality standards.”

The programme is being funded by the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade. [MFAT]
