Need for police post, Bagasau villagers plea

May 7, 2019 4:23 pm

Villagers of Bagasau in the District of Natewa in Cakaudrove want a Police Post to be built in their village.

Speaking at the Bagasau Village meeting yesterday, headman Taia Colaitiniyara says the nearest Police Station is miles away in Tukavesi.

He says although they do respond to reports and complaints, having a Community Post nearby will help in the police response time as well as serve the nearby communities in the Natewa District.

The villagers conveyed their proposal to the District Officer Tukavesi Samuela Saumatua yesterday.

Saumatua says while having a Community Post near the village is a good idea, there are other immediate plans for the Province.

He informed the villagers, there is however a plan to build a police station for the Natewa District.

This plan also includes the provision of a vehicle to help police in their work.

The villagers have been urged to formally submit their proposal on the Community Post to the Fiji Police Force and to specifically state the reasons they need it.
