The Energy Fiji Limited’s teams are working on repairing a cable fault which caused an unplanned power outage.

The incident happened in some parts of the Northern Division this morning.

The affected areas in Labasa include Westpac, National Bank, a couple of hotels, several businesses and government agencies as well as the Labasa Hospital, and FBC site in Namara.

EFL team says that the underground power cable supplying power to the areas had become faulty due to 11000Volts cable termination failure.

The faulty underground cable was isolated and the power supply to affected customers was normalized partially around 4:30am.

It is anticipated that repairs will be completed by one this afternoon.
