A 77-year-old man alleged to have raped his granddaughter has been further remanded by the Suva High Court.

It is alleged that the accused raped the 25-year-old in March this year, in Tailevu.

The accused is charged with two counts of rape and one count of sexual assault.

The state has objected to bail saying the two are related and there is a possibility of interference.

In response, the defense stated that the two live in the same area, but are not related.

The case will be recalled on August 14th for bail ruling and pre-trial conference.
