Australia has finally decided to exercise some flexibility on our products being sold under the SPARTECA TCF scheme.
Permanent Secretary for Industry and Trade Shaheen Ali says this is good news to Fiji’s garment industry.
The South Pacific Regional Trade and Economic Cooperation Agreement or SPARTECA allows products to be sold in Australia and New Zealand without tax or duty.
He says there’s been progress in settling issues that has meant the garment industry couldn’t benefit from the scheme
“So there has been a scheme which has been earmarked for Fiji by the Australian Government which we are grateful for.”
Classic Apparel Garment factory is one of those which will benefit from the scheme.
