Princess Road will open once it’s safe: FRA

The Fiji Roads Authority says the Princess Road near Dilkusha will only open once their geo-technical engineers deem it safe for motorists.

Thousands were this morning affected for school and work due to the landslide at Princess Road in Nausori.

FRA chief financial officer, Robert Sen says road users must be mindful of delays, as the Weather Office has forecast more rain.

“We have cleared two slips at Dilkusha however, the area is still closed along the Princess Road at it remains closed for all traffic until we clear the last slip which is number three. This is the area where two vehicles had an accident on the slip.”

Meanwhile, two vehicles were caught in the landslide yesterday, tumbling down to the river bank as a result of the slips however no one was injured.

FRA is also urging people living in areas where landslides are likely to occur – to be cautious.

21 roads in the Central Division remain closed due to flooding or washout.
