FNU to invest half a billion dollar in ten years

The Fiji National University will invest half a billion dollars in the construction of new buildings and infrastructure over the next ten years.

Vice Chancellor Professor Nigel Healey says this major capital project will be executed under the campus master plan which will cover University sites across the country.

Healey says their vision is to make the University world-class and provide students with a modern learning environment.

“We plan to spend about $500m over the next ten years in a range of new facilities.”

Healey says FNU inherited a lot of old buildings, some of which have reached the end of their lives and are beyond economic repair adding that all these structures have been reviewed as part of their master plan exercise and these will steadily be replaced with new and modern facilities.

He adds their repairs and maintenance budget has increased several fold over the last two years.
