The rape trial of a former proposed candidate of the National Federation Party will start on the 12th of next month.

It is alleged the 66-year-old man raped his 53-year-old sister in law in Nasinu on the 28th of June last year.

It is alleged that the suspect who is related to the victim had asked to rest at her home after attending a wedding in Suva.

The man allegedly started knocking on the woman’s bedroom door in the middle of the night, then forcefully got into the room and raped her.

Bail has been extended for the accused.
