Possible port of entry for Labasa could boost economic activity

A port of entry in or near Labasa will definitely boost economic activity in the North says the Tui Labasa Ratu Jone Qomate.

Ratu Jone says the port of entry will allow more investors and entrepreneurs to come to Vanua Levu.

He adds, the economic benefits will be huge as it will also generate employment.

“This will help retain our young people or Generation Z as they are referred to today – of which the two main universities in Fiji are already trying to achieve. But these young graduates need employment and not just any run over little jobs. That is where entrepreneurs with progressive ideas who are willing to partner trends of how things are done in Labasa come in.”

Ratu Jone was speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony for a new supermarket at Vunika, outside of Labasa Town yesterday.
