The Arya Pratinidhi Sabha opposes gay marriages and has conveyed this message to the Constitution Commission.
The organisation’s president – Kamlesh Arya says gay marriage is against the divine doctrine of procreation and sanctity of marriage.
“We have sighted our doctrine from the Vedas which clearly states the marriage is a process between one man and woman. We are not talking about physical pleasures here, we are just talking about the gay marriage- the unity that brings a man and a woman together through the pronouncement of the holy scriptures – which basically directs them to pro-create. And in the gay marriage there is no potential of pro-creating.”
The Sabha has submitted that a new Fiji Constitution shouldn’t give any credence to gay marriage.
