A woman who adopted a four-year-old girl who was allegedly raped by a 33-year-old man could not hold her emotions as she testified in the High Court today.

It is alleged that the woman’s defacto partner of seven years had allegedly raped her adopted daughter on March 16th this year.

The man is charged with two counts of rape and the alleged incident took place in Navua.

The woman in her evidence said that on the day of the alleged incident, she got ill and went home from work around six in the evening.

She said when she came home, her daughter said she wanted to go to her cousin’s place who stayed nearby.

The woman said she dropped her daughter there and went back home.

After a while she received a call from her sister who wanted to talk to her.

She said when she went back there, her sister told her that the 4-year-old girl told her niece who was changing her diaper what the accused had allegedly done to her.

She further said that she was shocked and did not know what to do.

The trial continues before Judge Justice Riyaz Hamza.
