Former Fiji Under 20 rep, Simione Sawene looks poised to sign a contract with the Newcastle Knights while former national 7s skipper, Watisoni Votu is said to be considering offers from overseas.

Knights chief Executive Matt Gidley says Sawene has been impressive during the trials and they want him to boost their front row.

Gidley adds while Sawene’s future with the team looks bright, the same cannot be for Watisoni Votu.

Votu has played in three reserve-grade trials and spent the past month training with the Knights.

Gidley remains hopeful Votu would greatly benefit from his short stint with the team
