Sevu Reece explains picking All Blacks over Fiji

Sevu Reece has explained his decision to choose New Zealand over Fiji, having made his Rugby World Cup debut in Saturday’s 23-13 victory over South Africa.

22-year-old Reeceadded playing in a World Cup to his list of 2019 achievements on Saturday night, having also made his Test debut, and won Super Rugby with the Crusaders earlier this year.

Born in Nadi, Reece was eligible to represent Fiji, however, turned down an invitation from Coach John McKee in favour of chasing the chance to play for the All Blacks.

“It’s a tough question, to be fair it was always a dream of mine to play for the All Blacks. I had a conversation with the Coach for the Flying Fijians, I showed him my plan and what I wanted to do. I appreciate him trying to talk to me. It has always been a dream of mine to play for the All Blacks.”

The All Blacks will play Canada next Wednesday at 10.15pm.
