More test matches for Fijiana XV before the World Cup

June 14, 2020 8:29 am

With the 2021 Women’s World Cup just around corner, Fiji Rugby Union is working on ensuring the Fijiana side has some test matches prior to the tournament.

Discussion are still ongoing on the proposed travel bubble between Australia and New Zealand, but FRU sees this as an opportunity to both our men and women to earn some game time.

Fiji Rugby Union Chief Executive John O’Connor says until they are certain on the conditions of travel, they will have to wait on the governments directive.

“Not only for the Men’s but also for the women’s because the women are building up for the World Cup in 2021 in New Zealand. We are discussing opportunities for them to play in Australia and New Zealand. But nothing is finalized at the moment.”

Meanwhile, FRU is hoping that everything works out soon, so the Flying Fijians may play in the PNC in October before playing Wales and the French Barbarians in the November tour.
