Nadroga retains Farebrother trophy

The Nadroga rugby team has retained the HFC Bank Farebrother trophy after defeating Naitasiri 26-19 in the opening challenge this afternoon at Sigatoka’s Lawaqa Park.

Wing Aisea Natoga scored Nadroga’s first try and two successful penalties from Apisalome Waqatabu which put them into the lead 13-9 at half time.

Apisalome Waqatabu scored their second try in the 13th minute of the second spell to extend their lead 20-9.

Nadroga’s captain, Manoa Tamaya says it was a tough game but they deserves the win.

“It was a good game and tough. This was all expected from the team coming into the match today. I thanked the boys for playing as a team and giving their best until the last whistle.”

Meanwhile Naitasiri was awarded a penalty try with four successful penalties from Etonia Rokotuisawa.

Coach Koli Sewabu says they will not stop from here as they will continue to build their young players in the next season.

Nadroga will now take on Suva in the second HFC Bank Farebrother Challenge

Nadroga retains Farebrother Trophy

The Nadroga Rugby side has successfully defended the HFC Bank Farebrother Challenge Trophy beating Navosa 40-25 this afternoon.

This is the side’s third year in a row victory.

The team led 26-10 in the first half.

Tries for the Stallion side were scored by Josaia Cokaibusa, Aisea Natoga, Etuate Naikaci, Timoci Sauvoli and Tomasi Sovilea.

Navosa was down to 13 men after Asesela Ravuvu was given a yellow card for eye gouging and Akapusi Rokoqica was cited for a dangerous tackle.

Nadroga has earned $40,000 for winning all eight matches in the Challenge this year.

The defending champion-Nadroga hammered Malolo 42-10 at Prince Charles Park to retain the HFC Bank Farebrother Challenge.

Eroni Vasiteri scored Nadroga’s first try in the 5th minute.

Nadroga led 13-10 at halftime.

The Stallion scored another four tries in the second half to secure their victory.

Nadroga will meet Namosi in the next challenge.
