2019 Chow Games begin

November 15, 2019 6:43 am

The 2019 Chow Games starts today with more than 1,700 athletes from 18 districts around the country to take part.

Fiji Primary Schools Athletics Association Secretary Patrick Bower says they expect another good event with improved performances from the outer island’s athletes.

There are some areas we need to work on in getting some of the outer islands like Kadavu and Yasawa on board, as they were always prominently placed when it came to the national finals like this. However, we’ve got good representation from Taveuni, Bua, Cakaudrove and Macuata.

Bower says close to a hundred officials will be part of the games.

He adds that technical officials have been trained through workshops to maintain professionalism throughout the meet.

“We don’t bring onto the field technical officials who have not been trained, to ensure that the officials know what the rules are and how to apply the rules correctly.”

The program for the 2019 Chow Games starts at 8 this morning with the finals to be held tomorrow at the ANZ Stadium.
