National Disaster Management Minister Inia Seruiratu has lashed out at various political parties who he says are trying to politicise the provision of food rations.

Seruiratu made this comment at the DISMAC briefing yesterday afternoon saying that food rations are distributed according to the number of people affected in villagers and settlements.

“We are aware that political parties are saying that certain ethnic groups are being marginalized or ignored – that is not so. I wish to assure all Fijians that we will provide for them, when we have the opportunity to come to you.”

Seruiratu says that DISMAC will also speed up their operations in terms of assessment and provision of food rations.

He confirms that over sixty thousand evacuees are in evacuation centres all over the country.
