Man sentenced for aggravated robbery

A forty-four-year-old man has been sentenced to seven years and nine months imprisonment by the Suva High Court this afternoon.

Turi Lesubula was convicted of four counts of aggravated robbery.

It was established in court that on February 26th 2017, Lesubula along with four others broke into the complainant’s house in Samabula and stole items valuing over five thousand dollars.

During the incident, the five masked men used a cane knife to attack the complainant causing serious injuries.

In sentencing the man, Judge Justice Vinsent Perera said it was a home invasion which happened around midnight and it’s a serious offence.

Lesubula is currently a serving prisoner with a sentence of 12 years imprisonment by the Lautoka High court for a similar offence.

The accused received a non-parole period of five years and nine months.
