The export sector has achieved yet another milestone yesterday with Fiji to begin exporting tobacco products into New Zealand in a matter of weeks.

Trade Minister Faiyaz Koya says this is a first for Fiji as the British American Tobacco has tapped into new markets.

He adds the new export line will increase export earnings by approximately $3m.

Koya has encouraged other manufacturers to take the leap into new markets, especially in markets where we have managed to gain better access.

“It is now the responsibility of the industry to capitalize on the resources that we have, therefore like BAT to encourage other manufactures to take the leap to new markets especially in markets where we can gain better excess.”

There’s no market that’s unreachable.

General Manager for British American Tobacco Company Ritesh Dass says Fiji will be exporting around 50m sticks to NZ, generating close to $3m in export revenue.
