Leadership is vital in the current recruitment drive by the Fiji Corrections Services.

People have been turning up at the Corrections Office in Walu Bay in the hundreds, and leadership skills will be on the check list.

At the same time, there is a Leadership and Change workshop that hopes to instill values amongst officers with potential.

FCS officer Vukili Bola says they’re trying to improve middle management at the Corrections Department.

‘Change happens everyday and the world is never the same. The way we do things inside there is a paradigm shift from just locking keys, the emphasis is on rehabilitation.’

He says they receive different inmates everyday who have the capacity to be better citizens.

The workshop will end tomorrow.
