Non compliance of Occupational Health and Safety Standards at the workplace continues to be an issue for the Labour Ministry.

Minister Jone Usamate says inspectors have found that employers, supervisors and workers are neglecting the enforcement of OHS in workplaces.

Usamate says it’s alarming to see that even workers have failed to address their rights and responsibilities.

A number of penalty notices to individuals ranging from fifty to a thousand dollars have been issued.

The minister says they’re now working on ensuring more compliance with stiffer penalties to offenders.
