The Commerce Commission is working to have soccer districts contribute towards players’ superannuation and medical insurance.

Commerce Commission chairman, Dr Mahendra Reddy says the concern was raised by former players.

The Commerce Commission wants players to be entitled to superannuation as players in Fiji do not have anything to fall back on after their careers are over.

The Commission also wants Fiji Football to look at medical cover for the players.

Dr Reddy says as soon as a player is registered, the district becomes the employer and the player the employee.

Fiji FA chief executive, Bob Kumar said he would comment on the matter after seeking legal advice.

Fiji FA has until August 16th to present their submissions.

After which they will look at making this a regulation.
