Business houses and the Police Force has played a major role to improve the City’s image says Suva City’s special administrator Chandu Umaria.

Umaria says the city has been criticised in the past by tourists, however the ratings for the past two years have improved.

He says relevant stakeholders have worked hard to change these thoughts.

“I must also thank a lot of people specially the business houses who made sure that there is fair trading. There were complaints before that tourists were overcharged but I must thank the retailers and all the other shop keepers that we would like to see fair trading the same price that is given to the locals is also given to the tourists.”

Umaria says police officers are always there when the cruise ship docks to help tourists.

For the first six months of this year 18 cruise liners have come to Fiji while a total of 21 cruise liners came last year.
