The Police are concerned at the high number of illegal boat operators in the Western Division.

Community Policing Coodinator Western, Penisamini Vukivou told FBC News they are trying their best to stop these illegal operations.

Vukivou says they are aware most are taking tourists to the Mamanuca and the Yasawa groups.

“We have seen that there is a rise regarding on the awareness, eventhough we run in the papers and on radio on illegal operators operating in the Western Division taking tourist to the island for a day trip.”

He says the police will have zero tolerance and anyone caught will face the consequences of the law.
