ANZAC day

Today is ANZAC day.

A national day of remembrance in Australia and New Zealand and is originally commemorated by both countries.

It is celebrated on the 25th of April every year to honour the members of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps who fought at Gallipoli in the Ottoman Empire during World War 1.

However now it broadly commemorates all those who died and served in military operations for their countries.

Anzac Day is celebrated in a number of Pacific Island countries including Fiji.
