“When I was laying in hospital I was looking at my friend’s progress in bodybuilding and fitness and my partner caught me and she told me, what are you going to do about it, why don’t you get up and do something about it. That’s what motivated me to start my training.”

He received a $5000 sponsorship today from Digicel ahead of the championships next weekend.

The former Mr Fiji says his success has been a motivation for his friends and family that have supported him through his career.

“My bodybuilding career has been really successful and I believe there are many potential in Fiji this sport can be really big here. I have been a champion of my own and now I’m stepping out of my comfort zone to compete in New Caledonia and I hope to get the gold.”

Pillay will participate in the Pacific Bodybuilding Championships in New Caledonia next Saturday.
