Fiji is open for business and the Government is ready to provide support in the investment process to genuine investors.

This was highlighted by Trade Minister, Premila Kumar in a meeting with the President and members of the Hong Kong-Fiji Chamber of Commerce.

Kumar says they’re ready to assist investors who will bring in new ideas, knowledge and technology into Fiji.

She adds Fiji as the hub of the Pacific – has a lot to offer in terms of logistics, transportation, communication, trade, educated English speaking workforce and the best internet connectivity in the region.

The Minister says investors from Hong Kong will have access to a larger market in the Pacific region.

The Chair of the Chamber of Commerce says their members are interested in doing business in Fiji and are exploring new areas of investing in the country.

The Chamber of Commerce was established in 2012, to bring together the business community with interest to undertake business with Fiji.

Since then, a total of 26 investment projects worth over $95.6 million has been registered.

The Chamber of Commerce has also used events such as the Hong Kong Sevens to promote Fiji to the wider business community.

The Minister will also be visiting Macau to launch the Macau-Fiji Chamber of Commerce.

This will establish formal business-to-business between Fiji and Macau.
