Fiji has been praised for its election to the Human Rights Council during the Human Rights Conference in Nadi today.
Australia High Commissioner to Fiji, John Feakes says that they stand with Fiji in advocating for the promotion and protection of human rights.
Feakes says that Fiji has implemented well over 80% of its Universal Periodic Review and recommendations.

He says more Pacific Island countries are also working towards establishing national human rights mechanisms.
